Senior Hardware Electronics Engineer

As our new hardware engineer, you’ll be joining our electronics design team to support the development of new products and test fixtures. You’ll be responsible for schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping and evaluation of new technologies, design for manufacture and regulatory compliance.

Some of the technologies that you’ll be working on include AC-DC and DC-DC power supply design, power electronics, cellular modems, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, power line communications, high voltage and high power PCB design and energy metering.

Key responsibilities and skills:

  • Support with the translation of product requirements into hardware requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and stage-gates, offering constructive feedback while drawing on prior industry experience.
  • Lead the translation of hardware requirements into schematics, working with the sourcing team to ensure component availability and cost targets are met.
  • Lead the development of PCB layout, while considering DFM, mechanical constraints and EMC best practice.
  • Own the design, throughout the manufacturing of PCBA prototypes, functional validation and pre-compliance testing.
  • Ownership of design, build and maintenance of production test fixtures.  A suitable candidate may also manage software development and maintenance for production testing.
  • Clearly document your design decisions, accurately contributing towards the development of the technical construction file, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support with the training and mentoring of other employees including interns and graduates.

What we're looking for:

A personable and motivated design engineer who has a passion for building quality products that improve the charging experience for our customers and contribute towards a more efficient electricity network. You’ll be working in a small, multi-discipline design team, so you’ll need to be a fast learner and autonomous whenever possible. 
 

You may be a good fit if you can demonstrate the following:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in electronics schematic development and PCB layout.
  • At least an intermediate understanding of EMC design best practice.
  • At least an intermediate level of competence in both digital and analog design.
  • Previous experience with power supply design.
  • Experience with Altium Designer is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A fast learner who is technically competent at picking up new skills and willing to mentor others.
  • An ability to translate technical language to other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • A willing, ‘can-do’ attitude to get stuck in wherever you’re needed.

Customer Service and Sales Coordinator

At Evnex, we design, build, and install smart electric vehicle charging systems.

Our New Zealand-built chargers and software ensure vehicles are charged efficiently, affordably, and with the lowest-possible impact on both the electricity grid and environment.

We’ve recently completed a significant capital raise and are entering a new phase of growth – we’d love you to be a part of it!

We’re a friendly supportive team who enjoy coming to work, and we provide opportunities for our people to grow. We’re highly cross-functional and work across business development & strategy, mechanical design, electronics, firmware, mobile, and web design. 

As Evnex’s Customer Service and Sales Coordinator, you’ll be providing an essential link between our sales team, production team and installation network, ensuring that customers enjoy an outstanding experience, from purchase, right through to the first time they plug in their EV. 

As part of this role, you’ll also be willing and able to help with general office administration tasks and business support when required.

 

Key responsibilities and skills:

  • Support our Auckland based GM of Sales & Marketing, and Wellington based NZ Account Manager with general sales enquiry.
  • Record all sales engagements carefully in our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software.
  • Coordinate scheduling between customers and our installation partners.
  • Support with invoicing and basic accounting.
  • Support with general office administration, including pick ups and deliveries and ordering of supplies.
  • Provide a base level of customer support, escalating to the appropriate technical department when necessary.
  • Assist with the organisation of events and trade shows.
  • Contribute positively to the team culture and embrace the company core values by demonstrating authenticity, fun, excellent customer service and an aptitude for growth.
  • Participate and engage in an active health and safety culture.


What we're looking for:

A motivated ‘people person’ who can bring energy to the role and delight customers with a keen attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile. You’ll have a high level of initiative and be happy to support with the development of processes as we scale our operations.

You’ll need to demonstrate the following:

  • At least 2 years experience in a customer support or service type role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A current, full driver’s license.
  • A fast learner who is technically competent at picking up new skills and highly computer literate.
  • An ability to translate technical language to customers in a clear and concise manner.
  • A willing, ‘can do’ attitude to get stuck in wherever you’re needed.

Office Administrator

Please note that this role is listed as full-time, but candidates available to work 24+ hours per week will also be considered.
 

The role:

We’re a friendly supportive team who enjoy coming to work, and we provide opportunities for our people to grow. We’re highly cross-functional and work across business development & strategy, mechanical design, electronics, firmware, mobile, and web design. 

As Evnex’s Office Administrator, you’ll be supporting our sales, production and installation teams with general administrative tasks including bookkeeping, ordering of supplies, and ERP (Enterprise Resourcing Planning) software support.

As part of this role, you’ll also be willing and able to help out across other areas of the business where and when required.
 

Key responsibilities and skills:

  • Support with the processing and reconciliation of financial transactions.
  • Quickly develop a sound understanding of, and support with the final implementation of our new ERP software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Support with invoicing and basic accounting.
  • Manage employee payroll.
  • Support with stock accuracy, cycle counting and adjustments.
  • Support with general office administration, including pick ups and deliveries and ordering of supplies and stationary.
  • Occasional customer support, transferring of phone calls, escalation of support requests. 
  • Contribute positively to the team culture and embrace the company core values by demonstrating authenticity, fun, excellent customer service and an aptitude for growth.
  • Participate and engage in an active health and safety culture.
