As Development Team Lead, your role will be full of variety. As well as being on the tools with your team, your purpose is to:

  1. Communicate clearly with the founders any risks, technical debt, and progress of work so they can make informed decisions
  2. Coordinating with the founders on work to be done and planning it with your team
  3. Guiding the team to build their professional capabilities and best practices so they are productive, suitably challenged, supported, and happy

 

What we're looking for in our Development Team Lead...

You are a talented full-stack web developer who is passionate about all the steps of delivering a great product.

You like to take initiative, take ownership of projects and features, collaborate with others, and mentor your peers. You are great at working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to develop simple and intuitive solutions to problems.

You have a strong technical background which allows you to make good tradeoffs and decisions around product architecture, development, deployment and maintenance.

Requirements

As our Development Team Lead, you'll bring:

  • At least 8 years of genuine developer/development experience with customer-facing web applications
  • Experience across the full Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience working in, and helping to create, a strong engineering culture
  • Experience with some of the technologies we use:
    • TypeScript
    • React (or other JS framework)
    • Node.js
    • Google Cloud (or AWS, Azure), including architecting and deploying applications
    • SQL
    • DevOps processes and technologies (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
    • GraphQL and Restful APIs
    • Flutter (Dart)
    • Native mobile development (Android, iOS)
    • Testing processes and frameworks
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (incl. performance, data structures, design patterns, networking)
  • You enjoy working with people, and you have an eye for process improvement

Your day-to-day:

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) based in New Zealand. We are flexible on working arrangements and hours, though we have a preference for applicants that can be based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Duties include:

  • Collaborating with designers, engineers and founders to build an awesome web and mobile application
  • Writing code that is clean, highly maintainable and well-tested
  • Managing the deployment and maintenance of the product
  • Operating as a team player, including mentoring other engineers
  • Architecting solutions for new use-cases and problems
  • Working to continuously improve the codebase and architecture
  • Orchestrating the response when production issues arise
  • Taking responsibility for the technical delivery of a reliable product that customers love

What we're looking for in our Graphic Designer...

We’re looking for a creative multi-disciplinary designer to join our team and help us build our in-house studio. Being the in-house design specialist, you will be responsible for producing visually stunning and engaging designs across a range of mediums, mainly digital.

In this role, you will work across multiple touch points promoting our brand experience ranging from concept thinking design for our new website to event banners, social media assets, infographics, seminar presentations to cater for our varied audiences of stakeholders.

This is a startup company and we all wear many hats, so you'll also need to be willing to roll up your sleeves and assist in other areas to help us achieve our mission.

Requirements

As our Graphic Designer, you'll bring:

  • A design degree with 1-2 years of experience in a design studio/agency
  • Have multidisciplinary design experience including digital, brand, and publication
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Sufficient understanding of print production requirements
  • High creative standards and great visual storytelling skills.
  • Basic level shooting/editing skills/motion graphics
  • Filming and video editing are desirable but not a requirement
  • Previous experience/exposure to branding through ideation of brand strategy and identity for other clients in the past, preferably in the educational and/or tech sector
  • A compelling portfolio to showcase your creativity.

 

Your day-to-day:

This is a part-time role (8 hours per week) based in New Zealand. We are flexible on working arrangements and hours, though we have a preference for applicants that can be based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Duties include:

  • Develop high-level concepts for digital work, social media, display banners, billboards, EDM’s, exhibition/events, printed materials, etc.
  • Regularly execute company designs for all digital assets, ranging from social media banners, posts, campaign adverts and any other assets as needed
  • Design research, mood boards, and design reference to help us build and refine our brand experience.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure campaigns are on-time and within scope

  • Understanding of customer success processes
  • A self-starter with a track record of successful sales development at multiple levels within an organisation

  • Confidence to present and demonstrate to audiences and key stakeholders at schools
