Senior Data Analyst

What is PredictHQ?

PredictHQ is a Demand Intelligence platform powering companies such as Uber, Domino's Pizza, Accor Hotels, Amazon Alexa and many more to identify their demand causal factors and unlock profitability hiding in plain sight.

We are solving a major blind spot in demand forecasting: the impact of real-world events. Our expertise is in building systems that find, verify and enrich intelligence on the millions of significant events that impact demand, so companies can act before it's too late. Our core product is an API of verified and ranked event data to provide machine-readable intelligence for better staffing, stocking, pricing and planning decisions.

Originally focused on the $2.3 trillion travel and transportation industry, we have grown to have leading global brands across retail, quick-service restaurants and location intelligence.

Launched in 2016, PredictHQ is growing rapidly and backed by Sutter Hill Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Aspect Ventures. PredictHQ’s team is now more than 70 people across the globe with offices in San Francisco, USA, and Auckland, New Zealand.

Our team combines the best of the American ambition and drive with New Zealand’s empathy and community spirit. We have high standards and huge plans.

Requirements

We are looking for a passionate and ambitious Senior Data Analyst to join our Auckland-based Data Assurance team. You will be responsible for helping to deliver strategic outcomes with specific reference to data quality control and insights. This role would suit someone with a solid background in data analysis, data cleansing, data mining, statistical analysis, and data visualisation and reporting. You will be responsible for investigating and fixing data issues at scale, sourcing and evaluating new data providers, visualising and creating reports for internal and external use, coaching Data Analysts, and assisting with administering on-demand workforce tasks where required. Therefore a keen eye for detail and strong communication skills to be able to engage with all levels of our business is a must

If you:

  • Love to solve problems, work on varied solutions, and provide valuable insights to the business.
  • Have a solid background in data analysis, data cleansing, data mining, data visualization, and reporting.
  • Are self-motivated and have a willingness to learn and teach.
  • Have a desire to work in a fast-moving startup that spans the world.

Then we want to talk to you.

Our people come first and enabling and supporting them to do their best work is a company priority. Our PredictHQ values are at the heart of our business and mean we are not only creating a world-first product but also a culture that is inclusive and unique.

A Senior Data Analyst here at PredictHQ will get to:

  • Work closely with our developers, data scientists and the product team to deliver, enhance and enrich our demand intelligence features and products.
  • Learn our data and tools and advise our customer experience managers on how to use them to solve our customers’ business challenges.
  • Conduct data analytics, insights analysis and statistical analysis for large and complex datasets to generate actionable insights for internal and external use.
  • Recommend and/or carry-out programmatic solutions for data quality issues at scale.
  • Investigate, evaluate and analyse new and existing data sources to improve quality and coverage.
  • Analyse the output of data science models to ensure that the models meet business requirements.
  • Actively participate in team, project and customer sales discussions to promote data-driven solutions.
  • Assist with documenting, administering and managing on-demand workforce tasks.

  • Data analytics, insights analysis and statistical analysis for large and complex data sets.
  • Experience in using statistical methods and data science techniques to conduct R&D, and enhance and enrich data quality.
  • Experience or familiarity with data visualisation. We use PowerBI and Metabase, however, we believe strong visualisation skills in any platform are translatable.
  • Comfortable writing advanced SQL (we use Redshift and Snowflake).
  • Experience with writing Python code, especially with Jupyter Notebooks.
  • Experience or familiarity with machine learning algorithms, advanced statistical modelling, and analytical programming.
  • Experience or familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Ability to coach junior team members to aid in their development.
  • Work well in a team as well as autonomously.

  • Strong focus on team training and development
  • Work environment centered on collaboration, agility, and fun
