Matchstiq's take on Serko

Serko's mission is to reinvent business travel retailing with the world’s first business travel marketplace.

The Market Opportunity Ahead for Serko

Serko has more than 50% market share of enterprise business travel in Australia and New Zealand, and are now building the foundations to extend into North America. Covid significantly disrupted the business travel landscape and that has created opportunity for challengers like Serko.

As well as geographic growth, they have formed a partnership with Booking.com for Business, opening up a global SME market to their technology. Despite the impact that Covid had on travel in 2020, they still have the ambition to get to $100m in annual revenue in the next few years.

DevOps Engineers Senior & Intermediate Opportunities

Serko is an award-winning business travel and expense software company that’s winning on a global scale. We’re already the established leader in Australasia and revolutionizing the way people do business travel in the USA and Europe – and we’re growing!

While the world of business travel is changing, we’re preparing companies for this with intelligent technology that helps them ensure the continued safety and wellbeing of their travelers – allowing for complex approvals where needed, giving real-time information about precautions taken by transport and accommodation suppliers, tracking and restricting travel around the globe, increasing the flexibility of bookings, giving true visibility and control over costs – and we’re not stopping there. We’re backed by the likes of Booking.com and there is an exciting road ahead of us at a time where travel needs real, impactful change.

We’re hiring people from different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives to help us build a world-class team and product.

Requirements

We're on the lookout for great Senior/Intermediate DevOps Engineers (Site Reliability Engineers) to make our production infrastructure more repeatable and reliable as we continue our journey of success to become a global player. We're rebuilding our group rooted in the DevOps philosophy, which brings the opportunity to bring your creativity as we bring a fresh approach to how we build and deploy our production services.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate with cross-functional product engineering teams to drive repeatability and reliability in our production infrastructure.
  • Work with other SREs to identify components that we can extract, refine and share to make all teams’ lives easier, such as developer tooling, build automation, provisioning, logging, monitoring, alerting, etc.
  • Produce clean, consistent and well-organised code to automate our infrastructure, builds, deployments and configurations within our stack:
  • Azure infrastructure and platform services
  • C# and MS SQL applications
  • Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Sumo Logic, New Relic
  • Lead the way in designing, implementing and improving our deployment and production infrastructure
  • Work with the teams by running blameless post-mortems to identify and implement improvements to make our products more reliable.
  • Work in a “build it and run it” environment where engineering teams build, deploy, monitor and support their components that they own.
  • Define ways that we measure production operations and support engineering teams to implement monitoring.
  • Mentoring and coaching other SRE's. Everyone has something to learn and something to share.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or DevOps Engineer with an interest in learning and applying the technologies and frameworks in our stack.
  • Hands-on experience managing production infrastructure.
  • Demonstrable experience working on and troubleshooting Azure or AWS Cloud web platforms.
  • Experience working in agile development teams that applied and experimented with infrastructure automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
  • Willingness to jump into our legacy infrastructure to help modernise it.
  • Excited to learn about how our industry works and the impact we bring to our customers.
  • Openness to receiving and giving feedback in a safe and inclusive work environment.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with our languages is a plus (PowerShell, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python).
