Snapshot of Xero

Xero's purpose is to make life better for people in small business, their advisors and communities around the world.

The Market Opportunity Ahead for Xero

The continued global movement towards towards cloud services is significant and Xero continues to rapidly grow across the markets in which they operate. On top of this, the push towards digitisation from governments in Xero’s major markets have also driven cloud adoption, through initiatives including Making Tax Digital (UK), Single Touch Payroll (AU), Payroll Filing (NZ), and E-invoicing (ANZ). The challenges presented by COVID-19 have prompted an increase in businesses going online for agility and resilience.

Diversity and Inclusion at Xero

Xero place the utmost importance on fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, where their people can bring their whole self to work. This is done not only because it the right thing to do, but it helps their people thrive and reflects the diverse needs of their customers. Hiring people from diverse genders and cultures and backgrounds also provides diversity of thought that helps us see problems and possibilities through many different lenses.

They have a range of learning programs on diversity and inclusion that are available to all employees. These include ally training (to help Xero's recognise when they have power and influence, so they can use it to make Xero a more inclusive place to work), as well as unconscious bias, disability confidence, LGBTI awareness and more.

Xero sponsors a number of programs around the world that aim to increase diversity in tech, and offers an inclusive parental leave policy that’s available to all permanent employees, regardless of gender identity, how they became a parent or how long they’ve been with Xero. They were recently selected alongside 380 companies worldwide to be included in the 2021 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the second consecutive year.
